As a port city and national heroes cities, there were indeed some museums in Surabaya where people can learn about the history. This chance I explored Surabaya Submarine Museum (map) located around city center.
The entrance fee is 10K IDR when I came last February 2016. This is actually an ex-submarine where people can go in and see what’s inside. I felt so thrilled when I was inside because it stimulated the images on how life was as a sea navy. I could see how the sleep, eat, defense, and attack the enemy. At some hours, they played old movie about how strong Indonesian navies are. (This one I have no doubt since Indonesia is the world’s largest island country situated between the Indian and Pacific oceans.)
